What size sheet should I use for a toga?
The Ancient Greeks and Romans didn’t wear pants because they found them ridiculous and considered them to be barbarous garments. The Ancient Greeks wore simple, light, loose, homemade clothes, made to get the most usage.
As the toga became formal wear, other forms of dress, particularly Greek forms, were worn around the house, day to day and by non-citizens. The decline of the toga seems to date to the near collapse of the Empire in the chaos of the Third Century and its renewal under Diocletian and the establishment of the Dominate.
Why did the toga go out of style?
It is recommended to use a twin sheet, though a full sheet can work (especially if you are taller). Fold the sheet lengthwise until it is the desired length of the final dress. For a short toga, fold the sheet in half. For a longer toga, fold down only the top 6” to 1′.
