Can you wear shorts at MEPS?
It needs to be able to be folded, really. Those silly little “boy-shorts” work EXTREMELY well for BMT purposes. As for a t-shirt, wear something plain (that goes for males and females), no letters, words, pictures, anything, comfortable tennis shoes, and long pants (jeans, etc., no shorts, no skirts).
Medical Evaluation at MEPS You will take a blood and urine test (including a test for drugs). There are also two different urine tests; one is the legal drug urine and the other tests for pH, blood, protein and specific gravity. You’ll take a hearing test, and an eye exam, including depth perception and color vision.
Everything together should take 2 days, though there are some situations that may make things shorter or longer. Some people will go into their branch’s DEP (Delayed Entry Program), and go home after MEPS to wait until their ship out date. Others will embark to basic training immediately following MEPS.
How soon do you go to MEPS?
Wear conservative, comfortable clothing. No offensive writing on t-shirts, no sagging pants, no open-toed shoes, tank tops, halter tops, bare midriffs. Make sure you wear underwear.
