Now materials scientists from the Autonomous University of Madrid led by Amadeo Vázquez de Parga have combined silicon and metal to make what they say is the smoothest surface ever made. They made the near-perfect mirror by coating a thin layer of lead onto a silicon surface.
10 Metals That Don’t Rust
What is ability to bend?
What is the most bendable metal? Nitinol is by far the most flexible metal* As the stress-strain curve below shows it can reach a strain of nearly 8% and still recover its original form. Few other alloys can exceed a strain of 1% (beta-C titanium, 7068 aluminum, extra-hard or hyten 304 stainless steel wire).
A metal that is easily bent is called malleable. Weight: Many common metals such as iron, copper, and zinc are very heavy (dense), although the smaller metals such as aluminum and lithium are fairly light.
Metals are malleable while non-metals are brittle. Gold is the most malleable of the metals, it bends back & forth readily, and can be hammered into extremely thin sheets (gold foil).
