The State degree
The State degree is the highest award a state FFA association can bestow upon its members. It is awarded at the state convention. The State degree recipients earn a charm that can be worn on the official jacket or on a gold chain. The American degree is the highest award that any FFA member can receive.
The president taps the gavel twice to call the meeting to order. When the president taps the gavel three times, it instructs the members to stand up. It may be used before the Pledge of Allegiance is recited, for example.

Three taps of the gavel is a sign for the membership to stand for the pledge to the flags. If it is necessary to return the meeting to order, a sharp tap or a series of sharp taps of the gavel will bring attention to the presiding officer and thus bring order back to the meeting.
