What do you call someone who tries to get a reaction out of you?
to anger, enrage, exasperate, or vex. to stir up, arouse, or call forth (feelings, desires, or activity): The mishap provoked a hearty laugh. to incite or stimulate (a person, animal, etc.) to action.
Normally it’s kind of a game people play to check out a person’s ability to handle the stress of “cool under fire”. They want to see that you can handle a little ribbing and hoping for a good comeback. “Getting a rise” would be a situation where this guy is not cool, and for some reason is funny.
To prompt an annoyed, irritated, or angry reaction from one; to provoke one so that they will react negatively. Don’t pay any attention to him, Bill, he’s just trying to get a rise out of you.
When someone is trying to ‘get a reaction out of you’, realize they are trying to MANIPULATE and CONTROL you and your emotions. RUN. do not walk away from them as quickly as you can. Stop taking their phone calls.
What does it mean to get a reaction out of someone?
The toxic person that I’m referring to is “the provoker.” The provoker is someone that provokes someone in order to get a response or some type of reaction. Whether someone knows that they’re a provoker or even if it’s on some hidden subconscious level, they’re capable of just as much damage as someone that’s abusive.
