Some hormonal contraceptive methods are more effective in delaying a period than others.
Birth control pills It’s possible to delay or prevent your period with extended or continuous use of any combined estrogen-progestin birth control pill. Your doctor can recommend the best pill schedule for you, but generally, you skip the inactive pills in your pill pack and start right away on a new pack.
Don’t stress! This is not abnormal. Breakthrough bleeding (anything from light brown discharge up to bleeding like your regular period) is the most common side effect for women beginning birth control. Just continue using your birth control as normal and give your body time to adjust to the birth control you are using.
You skip the placebo pills and carry on with the active pills in the next pack. You will then get your period at the end of the next pack.
