Can you stain rope?
Add the dye packet to the microwaved water and stir until it completely dissolves. Use as much as the dye packet as you want to reach the desired color. Using the full packet will give you a more vibrant color. The colors will be much deeper if using jute rope that is a natural brown color.
Cotton rope is a material that dyes well due to cotton’s ability to easily take up dye and maintain color. Many people choose to hand dye their cotton rope in order to achieve specific hues and patterns that may not be available to purchase.

Thoroughly soak the rope in warm water and then place it in a dry, shallow dish. Sprinkle dye POWDER straight onto the rope. Too much will create a dyed-through look. The dye will spread out as it soaks in, so be light on the sprinkling and try not to spread it around as you move the rope.
Even though nylon is a synthetic fiber, it can be dyed using the same acid dyes used on other fibers like wool. Be aware that mixed colors may not produce the same tint as they do on other materials.

Here’s what you do if you cannot find dark sisal rope: Cover the rope wrapped vase with the Spray-on Wood Finish to stain the rope. Wear gloves and rub the stain into the rope after each coat. I used the whole can. Love that they make this stain in a spray can!
